1. Sorting waste
Waste should be separated so that it can be processed more efficiently. Organic waste can be turned into fertiliser, while inorganic waste can be recycled into useful items. Note, however, that some inorganic waste, such as electronic waste, must be disposed of in a special way. Check your local waste disposal guidelines.
2. Separate recyclable waste
Inorganic waste has an economic value, so it can be separated in special bins and sold to waste collectors. Some examples of items that can be sold are plastic bottles, cardboard, newspapers and paper.
3. Reuse items
Used items can be turned into useful items, such as turning gallons into flower pots, cardboard boxes into tissue holders or plastic cups into pencil holders. Unused items such as clothes, tables and furniture can also be donated to those in need. This will reduce the amount of waste on the planet.
4. Compost
Organic waste can be composted. Food scraps can be collected and buried in the ground. This compost also has an economic value and can be sold.
